HOW DID YOU MEET?
We met at work, here in Columbus, where we both support the retail industry. Our paths crossed, with one of our focuses being on bringing products to the US from overseas and the other making sure the product that arrives makes it to stores. We had a connection, but who knew we would end up getting married. It’s crazy how life, just somehow, brings two people together, that grew up on opposite sides of OHIO, together.
DESCRIBE THE LOCATION OF THE DAY:
Our Big Day was at Via Vecchio Winery. You would anticipate a fair weather day in mid-October, but it was definitely an exception! Windy, 55 degrees at best, drizzling rain in the morning, and the trees, which we anticipated being more colorful, were mostly still green. We made the best of it with our first look down in Schiller Park where the setting was gorgeous, flowers were still blooming, and there was a huge beautiful gold leafed tree that we took full advantage of for our awesome pictures. Our guests waited patiently all bundled up and shivering with our outdoor ceremony, but things warmed up once the party started! Our 6:30 reception time was perfect for a beautiful sunset and guests ready to party!
DESCRIBE THE OVERALL LOOK AND STYLE OF THE DAY:
We were looking to have our day be centered in the urban landscape of Columbus, but still have a rustic feel. The blend of these two really represents us and what we like. The exposed brick, high ceilings, support beams and rafters, and multi-level feel of Via Vecchia did just this for us. We added pops of burgundy and champagne colors in our beautiful flowers and had the lighting and ambiance set with over 100 candles. The wine barrels stacked all throughout the venue gave us just another detail that set the venue apart from many others.
TELL US ABOUT THE WEDDING DRESS:
The dress was by Hayley Paige from Ivy Bridal. It was an elegant ivory dupioni and tulle fit to flare gown, sculpted elongated bodice with tiered tulle skirt and horsehair trim. It made me feel like a princess!
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR BRIDESMAID LOOKS?
The wedding flowers were my inspiration. Burgundy was the main color in the bouquet so I wanted the girls in a long dress that was soft in color. I selected a dusty rose which was perfect!
LET’S TALK BLOOMS! DESCRIBE YOUR BOUQUETS & BOUTONNIERES:
We chose a variety of blooms – Succulents, burgundy amaryllis, deep red astilbe, burgundy dahlias, burgundy spider mums, amnesia roses, ivory mini roses, navy blue viburnum berries, amaranthus, and Eucalyptus. We wanted the flowers to have a texture with a romantic feel. The flowers were amazing and fit the overall look of the day.
ANY INSIDER TIPS FOR PLANNING A WEDDING?
Be patient with one another and simply try to stay calm haha. Without a wedding planner, it felt like, we had 1000 tasks to knock out and not enough time. Start as early as you can, don’t procrastinate it only adds to the stress. Negotiate with your vendors and focus on your DJ, Food, and Venue. Make sure you have a vendor that is going to “hold down the fort” and keep everyone on task :). We added a little flavor by giving our guests some extra things to do like a photo booth, photo slideshow, sparkler sendoff, and awesome music playlist to keep the party going. The extra hour at the end of our ceremony was an awesome addition. It gave us another hour of dancing at the end of the night which we wish we had more time. The extra hour also gave us more time to mingle with our guests. It all works out in the end and is an absolute blur, but truly the best day of your life and we keep saying we wish we could do it all over again!!!
WHAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST EMOTIONAL PARTS OF THE DAY?
First look, walking down the aisle, and first dance it’s too hard to say which was the most :).
