ENGAGEMENTS

What do you think about when you think about a classic? a vintage Rolls Royce Phantom? a Rat Pack album collection? a Fine mahogany turntable?
Yeah, we would agree with all those things too, but when we think of a classic when it comes to weddings, we think of Casey and Dan’s wedding.

Let’s talk about flowers! Describe your bouquet and boutonnieres:

We wanted a crisp, classic look, so I decided to go with all white flowers and greenery. My bouquet matched what was displayed in the venue – a mixture of white hydrangeas, garden roses, wax flower, ranunculus, dahlias, seeded eucalyptus, silver dollar eucalyptus, spray roses, roses, olive branches, ruscus, and salal. It was tied with an Ivory ribbon wrap. The boutonnieres matched with white mini roses.

Tell us about the wedding dress:

My wedding dress was something that was really easy for me to choose – it was the second dress I tried on! The ladies at Anne Gregory (in Pittsburgh) captured my vision perfectly…so perfectly I didn’t need to go to my second bridal appointment!
My dress was designed by Watters – an ivory silk taffeta strapless sweetheart gown with a pleated bodice. It had an empire band and a full shirred skirt. I put my own touches on the dress to make it my own, adding a large custom made bow on the back, and an off the shoulder lace bolero. Of course, I had to have a chapel train, as we were getting married in a chapel and I wanted the dramatic effect!

How did y
ou feel the morning of your wedding? Did you have wedding day jitters?

When I woke up on my wedding day, I was surprisingly very calm – but excited! I knew I was making the right decision – the best decision of my life and everyone I love would be there to witness it.

Dan, in 5 words describe what you thought when you saw your bride walking down the aisle:

My prayers have been answered.

Party time! First off, how was that cake? And why did you choose your cake designer?

Our wedding cake was actually free – it was a gift from our caterer. The pastry chef studied in Paris for years and I knew it would turn out delicious – and it was! We had 3 tiers, two were carrot cake with cream cheese Filling, and the bottom tier was white almond cake with raspberry filling, both finished with white buttercream. I added white flowers and a cake topper displaying a fighter jet and the quote “Come Fly With Me” which was our first dance.

What was the most memorable moment of the reception?

There were so many memorable moments! For me, it was a cross between hearing the best man speech – my next door neighbor and his best friend – we’ve known each other for years…and the last song of the night was “Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing, and Danny and I did the famous jump lift – which we did NOT plan! It was so fun, he got me really high!

If you could choose one photograph to highlight from your whole wedding, what photo would that be?

This is a difficult one; there were so many beautiful shots captured by Adam and Lacey. I would say the one from the balcony at Heinz Chapel overlooking our ceremony and everyone we love while capturing its gorgeous architectural detail. It was breathtaking!

Any local insider tips for planning a wedding in Columbus, Ohio?

Since our wedding was held in Pittsburgh, and I was living in Columbus as the time, I didn’t have the advantage of seeing or meeting all of the potential vendors, so I decided to hire a Pittsburgh based wedding planner. I highly recommend hiring a planner! She made the process so easy – all I had to do was choose who was the right fit based on our budget. She captured our vision perfectly and made our day stress free. It truly makes all of the difference!

We would love to show your vendors some love. who were your vendors?
